National Sleep Awareness Week: Hot Tub your way to better sleep

Do you struggle with falling to sleep? You are not alone- about 30-40% of adults say they have some symptoms of insomnia within a given year.*

Are you familiar with the sleep benefits of a hot tub? A hot tub can help put your body and mind in a state that is ready to fall asleep.

Sleep Benefits of a Hot Tub

The National Sleep Foundation suggests,

“Soaking in hot water (such as a hot tub or bath) before retiring to bed can ease the transition into deeper sleep, but it should be done early enough that you are no longer sweating or over-heated.

Unlike using prescription sleeping pills, which can come with adverse side effects, the deep sleep you experience after using your hot tub is all natural! If you haven’t ever tried soaking in a hot tub before going to sleep, you are missing out on experiencing a sleep that is deeper, more fulfilling and healing than sleep without a nightly soak.

Using a hot tub right before bed will ensure that you wake up feeling rejuvenated and rested!

Other healthy sleep tips from the National Sleep Foundation are

“Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine such as soaking in a hot bath or hot tub and then reading a book or listening to soothing music. A relaxing, routine activity right before bedtime conducted away from bright lights helps separate your sleep time from activities that can cause excitement, stress or anxiety which can make it more difficult to fall asleep, get sound and deep sleep or remain asleep. Avoid arousing activities before bedtime like working, paying bills, engaging in competitive games or family problem-solving.”

March 3-11, 2013 is National Sleep Awareness Week in the United States.
